What I’m Giving Up For Lent

Lent is coming up on Wednesday and even though I’m not religious I thought I’d take part anyway. A lot of people give up chocolate for lent but what I’m giving up is something completely different.

*Drumroll please*

MAKEUP!

I was inspired by Fabulous Hannah to do this so you can check out her video here.

Now as many of you might already know, I wear make-up at least 5 out of 7 days a week and not because I feel like I have to (most of the time) but because I want to. However a lately I have noticed that I will put makeup on even if I’m just going down the street to the shops. I feel like girls my age especially are pressured by the media and it all ties in with body image, that makes us think that we have to look a certain way and put on makeup a certain way, which we shouldn’t feel. We already have enough pressure put on us at my age for example:  friendship groups, peer pressure, GCSE’s etc. I personally don’t wear makeup for other people, I wear it for me but I do know that a lot of girls do wear it to feel involved. And that shouldn’t happen.

So this year for lent I am giving up makeup for 40 days to make a stand and to show girls that we are all beautiful with or without makeup.

Now yes I have spots but who doesn’t. I have a hoard of spots on my forehead, some on my cheek and some under the skin spots. It’s life, we all are going to get spots whether you’re a young child, teenager or an adult, but I want to see my skin after the 40 days and see how it has improved and I will change nothing in my skincare routine. If you want to join me please do and tell me in the comments what you think of it. I also made a video on it which you can see here.

xoxo
